Since Ollie's residency has begun it's been kinda crazy. We're still getting used to his new schedule, but as soon as we get used to it, it changes all over again. For the month of July he was working at the VA in the psych unit on the addiction floor. Every fifth day he was on-call which means he was at the hospital from 8 am one day until 8 am the next day. Genevieve thought it was so funny that he had to sleep at the hospital. Ollie didn't think it was so funny. Most regular days he got home in time for dinner, bath and bedtime and in the morning he was gone before the kids woke up. And the commute doesn't help with anything! Starting today for the month of August he'll be working in the neurology department. We don't know what to expect yet. Today he's on-call, but it's only from 7 am to 7 pm. So he won't have to sleep at the hospital this month, YEA! Overall though, it's been an adjustment for us all not to see Daddy as much as we had been. Especially since we don't even seem to get a full weekend with him because he's had to work one of the days. So Saturday was the first day in a long time we had the whole day with Daddy. We made the best of it! As soon as the kids got up we got ready and headed over to IHOP for a special breakfast. Then we ran some errands together. One errand was to Central Market which Genevieve loves! We all enjoyed the free samples. After lunch and naps we went to the frog pool for some fun. We all love being in the water on a hot summer day and it was an even better day because we had Daddy with us ALL DAY LONG!!!
Totally hear ya!! Eric was on OB...we never saw him! now he is on peds and so we will have our weekends. Thank goodness!! I thought it slowed down a bit once they were in residency but little did I know! Hope all is well!!
I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and father, Ollie, who is busy pursuing his dream to be a doctor, a mother to a sweet, but sassy five year old girl, Genevieve, and a cuddly, but demanding two year old boy, Anson. I enjoy the outdoors, soccer, reading, musicals, hiking, snowboarding, camping, swimming, the 80's, shopping, traveling (wish I could do this more often), baking, photography, animal rights, playing cards, backgammon, sudoku, Kraft macaroni & cheese, summers in Seattle, spring in New Mexico, fall in Texas, chocolate, real conversations about politics and religion with open-minded people, family walks, the smell of coffee, sunflowers, raspberries, vegetarianism, hanging out with friends and family. Life is continuously an adventure at our house!
