After celebrating at her school our family of four went to The Children's Museum for a fun birthday afternoon. The kids loved exploring the themed play areas overflowing with stimulating adventures. Made up of five galleries, it is a place where children will learn about the world in which we all live. They have Explore Your Backyard, Explore Your Town, the Water Room, the Little Urban Farm and Explore My House. We also enjoyed checking out the Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit. It was really cool! We then headed home for dinner of macaroni and cheese and chick nuggets, the birthday girl's request, followed by some delicious birthday cake. We ended the day opening more presents. It was a fun filled day for our 5 year old! Happy, Happy 5th Birthday, Genevieve! We love you!!!
For Genevieve's birthday Ollie and I got to come to her "Circle Time" at school for a little celebration. In the Montessori school they do something called "The Celebration of Life". The birthday boy or girl holds the earth in their hands and walks once around the circle for each year of their life. Before each year I got to share a photo and a little about Genevieve during that year. Genevieve loved showing all her friends the pictures of her growing up. Afterwards candles were lit to represent the moment of birth and each year on the earth, followed by singing Happy Birthday. Genevieve then got to share a birthday treat of Minnie Mouse cookies (Genevieve's choice). It was a special way to celebrate our big girl turning 5 with her class! Happy Birthday, Genevieve!
I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and father, Ollie, who is busy pursuing his dream to be a doctor, a mother to a sweet, but sassy five year old girl, Genevieve, and a cuddly, but demanding two year old boy, Anson. I enjoy the outdoors, soccer, reading, musicals, hiking, snowboarding, camping, swimming, the 80's, shopping, traveling (wish I could do this more often), baking, photography, animal rights, playing cards, backgammon, sudoku, Kraft macaroni & cheese, summers in Seattle, spring in New Mexico, fall in Texas, chocolate, real conversations about politics and religion with open-minded people, family walks, the smell of coffee, sunflowers, raspberries, vegetarianism, hanging out with friends and family. Life is continuously an adventure at our house!
