A Special Day

Friday was a special day for a number of reasons. It was Genevieve's last day of school before the summer program starts and she moves up to her next class. Ollie had the day off, so he got to spend some quality time with the family. We decided to spend the afternoon at the zoo, which was also Anson's first trip there. And we ended the day eating dinner and visting with our friends Melanie, Wade & Max at their house.

We all really had a great time at the zoo! The weather was nice and it wasn't too crowded. We enjoyed seeing all the animals. Because the weather was so pleasant all the animals were out . All three cheetahs were out sunbathing. The gorilla was snacking on a carrot. The rhinos were getting hosed down by the zookeeper. The giraffes were eating from the trees. The meerkats were perched up on their mounds looking around. The hippos were out of the water which was a first to see for us. They are really, really fat! The elephants were kicking a ball around. The white tiger was lounging. The lions were running around playing. Last, but not least, which was Genevieve's favorite, was feeding the birds. As you can see from the pictures below, Genevieve got up close and personal with several of her winged friends. This wasn't her first time doing this, but she seemed to enjoy it more than ever this time around.
