Happy 90th Birthday, Roger!

In March the kids and I went with my parents and brother to Austin for a birthday party celebrating my great uncle's 90th birthday. Uncle Roger was born in Vernon, Texas, served in the Army Air Force in WW II, graduated from Texas Tech, before beginning a career in the late 40s with Southwest Public Service Company, where he worked his way from lineman to Senior Vice President. He is married to my grandmother's sister, Bennye Lou Ross. After retiring, he taught business courses at Abilene Christian University. He works out regularly, swimming, walking, and working with weights, and looks in better health than most of us. They recently moved to Austin to be closer to some of their kids. It was a lot of fun to see some of my dad's extended family who we don't see very often. I especially was pleased that Genevieve and Anson got to spend time with these special relatives.

The Little Mermaid Puppet Show

My mom's group went to see The Little Mermaid Puppet Show. The kids LOVED the show and sharing it with friends. The adults kept laughing at the romance scenes and the cheesy love songs. It was one of the best puppet shows we've seen in a long time!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Ollie had the day off on St. Patrick's Day so we made the most of it and headed over to the Texas Discovery Gardens. We hadn't been before, but had heard good things. We found they had a nice fountain, fish ponds and sculptures to play around on. There was also a demonstration on how to compost, and the kids enjoyed learning about that. After exploring the gardens we went inside to the Butterfly House where the kids were introduced to every shape and size of butterfly you can imagine. The weather was so nice that we decided to eat dinner on the front patio after we got home. All in all it was a fabulous St. Paddy's Day!

A New Park

The kids and I tried out a new park with my moms group recently. It was so cool! They had so many things to explore and play on. The kids had a blast! We'll definitely go back!
