Our Vacation: Part Eight - Oregon Coast

Sunday we drove up the Oregon coast (about an hour from Eugene) to Washburne State Park. We've been to the coast before, but wanted to check out a new beach this time around. We got out of the car and were immediately hit by the change in temperature. While it had been in the low 90's in Eugene, the weather on the coast was around 54 degrees, windy and overcast. We tried to dress accordingly, but were all very cold from the get go. We started off at a picnic table having lunch, then walked down to the beach. Genevieve was so excited! She wanted to go in the water, but we quickly let her know it was way too cold and she agreed. She did enjoy exploring, looking for seashells, finding crab skeletons and one big, huge jellyfish. We didn't stay as long as we had hoped on the beach. It was just too dang cold as you can see from the pictures. So we drove a few miles down the road to the Sea Lion Caves. It was stinky, but the caves protected us from the cold wind. They pride themselves on being "The World's Largest Sea Cave", so you can imagine that it was quite a sight seeing a hundred (give or take) sea lions making a big ruckus. Afterwards we couldn't leave the coast without making a stop at Mo's for some clam chowder, which is sort of a tradition in Ollie's family. Despite the fact that the weather wasn't ideal, we had a great day on the coast!

Burger's Lake

A few weeks ago we spent the afternoon at Burger's Lake as a family. It's a spring-fed lake that has several diving boards, slides and a trapeze. We started out having a picnic lunch which included corn on the cob, one of Genevieve's favorites, as well as other yummies! We then went swimming. It was a hot day and the water felt great! Ollie and I took turns watching the kiddos while the other went on the trapeze. It was a lot of fun! Genevieve tried a kids slide, but it went really fast and it kind of freaked her out. We then found a kids diving board that was the perfect size for Genevieve. She could do it all by herself. She loved it and went on it a million times! We had fabulous day and look forward to going again soon!

Battle Station

So we recently got out the exersauser, or as we like to call it, the "Battle Station", for Anson. He had so much fun exploring all of the different toys on it. He got a little frustrated at times that he couldn't reach the objects to his mouth, but overall it was a really big hit! And of course it's great for us while we're getting dinner ready, something to keep a baby entertained:)

Our Vacation: Part Seven - Eugene, OR

After several days with Anne and Monte we drove to Eugene, Oregon to spend some time with Ollie's dad. One day we headed over to Art in the Vineyard, which is one of the Northwest's top art, wine and music festivals located along the banks of the Willamette River in Eugene's scenic Alton Baker Park. We had lots of fun exploring the art booths. They had everything including tie-dyed baby clothes, oil paintings, sculptures, jewelry and funky lawn art. They also had tons of booths of wonderful choices of food. We got Vegan Yaki Soba Noodles from one booth and Tofu Pad Thai from another. Genevieve picked out a fresh dipped chocolate ice cream bar rolled in oreo crums for dessert. Delicious! There was also live music playing and various theater/puppet shows to watch. Overall it was a fun time!

Tea Party

In Genevieve's closet she has a few different toys that we pull out for rainy days or special occasions. Being that we live in Texas and it's been way too hot to play outside recently, we pulled out her tea set one afternoon. This tea set was a gift from Grandma & Monte for Christmas a few years ago. It's fragile so we haven't played with it a lot. This time Genevieve was extra careful with it and enjoyed having a tea party; serving tea and muffins to herself and her bear.

Footsies

I'm back!!! Our computer is working! YEA!!! I have tons of blogging to catch up on, so be patient with me!

Anson has been into his feet for awhile now. He loves to try to get his toes in his mouth. This keeps him entertained forever! He sometimes would rather play with his feet than a toy. Here are several pics that I think are pretty cute of Anson and his footsies from the past month or two!
